FAQ

  • What is a plant-based, anti-inflammatory diet?

A plant-based, anti-inflammatory diet is very low in processed foods, animal foods and is very high in nutrient dense plant foods. Think fresh green juices, smoothies, giant salads, chia/flax seeds and lots of hydration. Eating this way will nourish your body on a cellular level so it can begin to heal.

  • Am I a good candidate for this program?

The people who do best with this type of program are ready to feel better and are willing to do what it takes to get there. Many have not gotten the results that they were expecting with conventional methods and are looking for something that really works.

While we strive to help everyone. this program is not for those who are immediately post-surgery or for those needing ultrasound, e-stim or other modalities. When you contact us, we will be able to determine if we can assist you.

  • Is this a quick fix?

No, Plant-Based PT is not a quick fix. Giving the body what it needs will accelerate restoration and healing which requires consistent effort over weeks and months. The good news is that as you begin to notice positive changes, you will be motivated to continue with your efforts and will begin to feel proud of what you have accomplished.

  • Do I have to be vegan or vegetarian?

Nope. You do not have to be vegan or vegetarian to participate in Plant-Based PT. You do, however, need a willingness to greatly reduce the animal products that you consume and greatly increase the amount of fruit, and particularly, raw vegetables into your diet. We have several ways to go about this and will customize a plan just right for you.

  • Can I sign up for more than one consultation or week long jump start?

Yes, both the single consultation and 5-day jump start can be completed just once or repeated as many times as you’d like. After both the consultation and the 5-day jump start, you will be given all of the information you need to continue on your own. However, many people find it difficult to maintain these diet and lifestyle changes without adequate support. At Plant-Based PT, we offer that support and are here to champion your efforts and keep you pointed in the direction of your health goals.

  • Do I need any kind of equipment to perform the exercises that you prescribe?

Although it might be helpful to have some hand weights or resistance bands as you gain strength, the majority of exercises that we prescribe are quite effective using only body weight.

  • What is a muscle imbalance and how do I know if I have one?

A well trained physical therapist with a discerning eye will be able to pick up on muscle imbalances and determine which stretch or strength based exercise will correct the imbalance. At Plant-Based PT we specialize in the identification and correction of muscle imbalances and show you exactly what you need to do to correct them.

  • Do you take insurance?

No, we do not take insurance. The effectiveness of this program is in the multi-disciplinary approach we take to wellness which doesn’t necessarily lend itself to billable codes. The single consultation costs $125 and the 5-day jump start costs $297, both are due at the time of service.

  • What is included in the 5-day jump start?

The 5-day jump start begins on a Monday and lasts through Friday. We will meet in person Monday and Friday for about 45 minutes. Generally, we will meet outside in a local park. We prefer this to an office type atmosphere with artificial light. During our time together, we will determine what exercises you would benefit from most, develop an anti-inflammatory diet plan and determine which wellness practices will work best for you. You will be asked to keep a journal and record your daily health practices for 5 days. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, you will receive encouraging texts from me to help keep you on track and support you through the entire five-day jump start.
